YOU CAN MAKE A CHANGE
IN THE LIFE
OF ONE CHILDTODAY
BROTHER & SISTER MENTORING
The Shaymar Foundation programme matches mature volunteer mentors with an at-risk child, with the expectation that a caring and supportive relationship will develop. Mentors are selected, screened, and matched by the Shaymar Foundation staff, and the faculty monitor the relationship and maintain contact with the mentor, child, and parent/guardian throughout the matched relationship. Matches are made based on shared goals and interests of the child and adult volunteer. Mentors are expected to meet with the child at least 3-5 hours per week for a period of 12 months or longer. Ongoing case administration by The Shaymar Foundation staff provides supervision of the relationship, and can provide advice and guidance to the mentor, as well as support and encouragement.
There is much talk about the problems in our communities concerning our youths, which by the way is a very small percentage. The Shaymar Foundation was the birth child of our caring President/Executive Director and Chicago's CAN-TV Executive Producer/Host of The Underground Railroad Television Show. to help the youth. It's that time for each of our adults to wake up and remember the problems we were having as youths, the lack of understanding us as human beings with rights. The lack of respect we were getting as youths from some of the adults of that age of time. Let's bring back the community and village by making a donation to help the Shaymar Foundation in helping our youth!
